Strength & Conditioning Coach | Co-Founder
James de Lacey is a professional Strength & Conditioning coach based in Austin, Texas, and co-founder of Lift Big Eat Big. He competed in Olympic Weightlifting at the National level and has coached weightlifting at the National level.
With a Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Science, James has published research to the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. His extensive coaching experience includes working with Major League Rugby's Austin Elite, where his team won the National Championship in his first year.
Head Weightlifting Coach | Mental Performance Coach
Mona Pretorius de Lacey is an internationally accomplished athlete and coach based in Austin, Texas. She is a 2018 Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist in Olympic Weightlifting and a 6-time Karate World Champion, bringing over 22 years of international competition experience representing South Africa.
As Head Weightlifting Coach and co-owner of Lift Big Eat Big, Mona specializes in Olympic Weightlifting coaching, youth development, and mental performance training. She holds an Honors degree in Sports Psychology and was introduced to weightlifting by her father at age 12.
Coach & Competition Coordinator
Attila Huska brings extensive experience in Olympic Weightlifting coaching and competition organization to the Weightlifting Texas Foundation. With a deep understanding of youth athletic development, Attila is dedicated to creating opportunities for young athletes across Texas to compete and excel in the sport.
As Competition Coordinator, Attila works to ensure that all events run smoothly and provide a positive, educational experience for athletes, coaches, and families. His commitment to developing proper technique and building character through sport helps athletes reach their full potential both on and off the platform.
Athlete Development & Community Outreach
Mariah Huska is passionate about building community and supporting young athletes in their weightlifting journey. With a focus on athlete development and outreach, Mariah works to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants in Weightlifting Texas Foundation programs and competitions.
Her dedication to youth athletics extends beyond the platform, as she actively engages with families, schools, and local gyms to promote the benefits of Olympic Weightlifting. Mariah's enthusiasm and commitment help ensure that every young athlete feels supported and encouraged to pursue their goals in the sport.
